540 Parkland
Drv. Sandy, Utah
Parking lot
This was a 156,000 sq.ft. new parking lot done by
Peterson Engineering in
2011. ENREDS provided lighting and power design consulting
services. ENREDS performed a cost analysis for this project
comparing fixtures using LED lamp technology against fixtures
using more traditional metal halide lamps. ENREDS worked closely
with fixture manufacturers to carefully calculate the lighting
distributions, shown bellow, for both cases. By performing
this analysis ENREDS was able to help the owner
- Reduce the labor and materials necessary to provide an
adequate level of illumination.
- The reduced labor and materials resulted in a 17% savings in
upfront costs to the owner. Even after taking into account the
higher cost of LED fixtures.
- The increased life of LED lamps means reduced maintenance
costs for the owner.
- Besides the upfront savings the owner was able to apply for
energy incentives from the utility company.
- The improved illumination uniformity provided by the
LED fixtures increased the safety of the praking lot users.
- Because of the decreased number of fixtures, the owner is
able to save ~40% energy over the life of the fixture.
ENREDS would like to thank Quantum Lighting group
for their support in making this project possible.
