300 GHz to 2 THz Backward-wave Oscillators

ENREDS is currently developing a family of Backward-wave oscillators (BWO) in the 300-2000 GHz band of the electromagnetic spectrum. Terahertz radiation has applications in spectroscopy, imaging, communications and astronomy, to mention a few. The full potential for applications in this part of the electromagnetic spectrum is limited by the amount of light available from state of the art sources and their physical constrains. ENREDS' devices will help realize some of the potential in the above mentioned applications. The figures bellow show the measured power output characteristics and the calculated voltage-frequency tuning curves of our experimental devices.
